What to Expect [FAQ]

At any service, you can expect

A verse by verse Bible teaching from Pastor Troy, engaging worship, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Below are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions!

What time do you gather on the weekends?

We gather together on Saturdays at 5PM and Sundays at 9:00AM, 10:30AM, and 12:00PM!

Keep in mind, our busiest service is at 10:30AM and it fills up very quickly. We do have overflow rooms available, but if you are wanting a good seat in the sanctuary, we recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early. Our smaller service is at 12:00PM, which might be a good fit for you on your first Sunday with us! Whatever service you attend, make sure to say hi to someone with an orange lanyard so we can get you settled in!

When else does the church meet?

We also have multiple different ministries that meet throughout the week:

Women's Morning Prayer | Every Monday at 6:30AM

Men's Tuesday Morning Prayer | Every Tuesday at 6:00AM

College Age Ministry (18-23 years old) | Every Monday at 7PM

Calvary Young Adults (23-35 years old) | The First and Third Monday Each Month at 7PM

How long are your services?

On Saturday evenings, you can expect our services to last around an hour and 15 minutes. [15 minutes of worship/60 minutes of teaching]

On Sunday mornings, you can expect our services to last around an hour. [15 minutes of worship/45 minutes of teaching]

On Sunday evenings, you can expect our prayer service to last around an hour and 10 minutes.

On Wednesday night, you can expect our service to last about an hour and a half. [30 minutes of worship/1 hour of teaching]

What version of the Bible do you use?

We use the New King James Version (NKJV) to teach every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening!

Do you have small groups?

Our small groups (aka. Home Fellowships) are between 10-20 people, which meet outside of the church, every week, to discuss the Word of God and allow the Spirit to move on a smaller scale. We have groups meeting just about every weekday, spread out all over the Lynchburg area, so there is a group there for you! This is the best way to get plugged into both fellowship and service at Calvary Chapel Lynchburg, and we have been incredibly blessed by the fruit that God has borne through this ministry. What do I wear to church?

At Calvary, we don't have a formal dress code. Some enjoy the opportunity to dress up, while others come in more casual attire. Feel free to come as you are!

What does your Children's Ministry look like?

CCKIDS is an exciting part of what God is doing here at Calvary Chapel! Each service offers ministry for the children. We gather together for kid’s worship, after which each age group moves to it’s own class for Bible study. This includes teaching, games, activities and crafts that are designed to reinforce the Bible lesson of the day. We encourage everyone with children to take advantage of this dynamic ministry. What about Youth?

Our high school and middle school youth groups play a vital role in the ministry at Calvary Chapel. Our vision is to ignite a passion in the young people of Calvary Chapel Lynchburg, encouraging them to live for Jesus Christ now, rather than waiting for later in life. We engage deeply with the Word of God, studying it verse-by-verse through solid Bible teaching, and we also offer frequent events to foster connection. Our youth groups meet during our Sunday services (except the 12PM) and on Wednesday nights at 7PM.
