Vernon Merritt

Vernon grew up in Sunny South Eastern Florida and came to faith in Christ at the age of 7. He moved to Lynchburg in 1995 to attend Liberty university and began attending CCL at that time. Vernon wears many hats around here, serving as the missions pastor, leading our home fellowships, and helping manage the church finances.  He has been married to his wife for 21 years and is blessed with three beautiful children.

What is your favorite bible verse?
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” ~ Ephesians 2:10

This verse reminds me that God has a plan for my life. That despite my faults and failures God is working on me. Not only that, He has things prepared for me to do that have eternal  value.  Last but not least this is true for every believer. Each of us are His work of art and each of us has an eternal purpose.

What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy watching college football especially The U. I also like to hunt or target shoot occasionally. I like to learn how to fix things and enjoy doing projects around the house or small repairs to our vehicles. My favorite thing to do is to be at home with my wife and kids!
