In Lynchburg, a small group of people were quietly praying and dreaming for something big: a Calvary Chapel ministry that would bring together the verse-by-verse teaching of God’s Word, as well as Spirit-led and Bible-based worship that Calvary Chapels are known for.
Meanwhile, across the country in California, Pastor Troy Warner had spent four years serving at Calvary Chapel Vista. God was stirring in his heart a call to step out in faith and start something new. After seeking God’s direction through prayer, Pastor Troy felt a clear and compelling pull toward Lynchburg—the very place where that small group had been faithfully praying.
On August 1, 1994, Pastor Troy and his family made the move to Lynchburg, ready to launch a simple yet powerful ministry—teaching the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, while loving and leading the growing family God was bringing together.
Today, that same passion continues under Pastor Troy’s leadership. We remain a place where the Word of God is central, Jesus is always the focus, and we gather to worship Him together before scattering out to share His love and light throughout Lynchburg and beyond.

Pastor Troy Warner is the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel Lynchburg, where he has faithfully led since 1994. Our staff is made up of pastors, leaders, and ministry directors who are passionate about serving the body of Christ and reaching our city with the hope of the Gospel.
